The American Mideast Conference (AMC) was founded in 1949 and initially named the Mid-Ohio League. The conference would change to the Mid-Ohio Conference (MOC) in 1962 in its first step in a multi-phase expansion that extended the conference into states beyond Ohio. The MOC was rebranded as the American Mideast Conference (AMC) during its 50th anniversary in the 1998-99 academic year. The American Mideast ceased operations as an athletic conference after the 2011-12 academic year as many schools left the AMC to join their respective new home primary conferences.
