The USA South Athletic Conference was founded in 1963 and was originally named the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or the Dixie Conference. It began as an NAIA Division conference and would move to NCAA Div. III status in 1973. The conference rebranded itself to USA South in 2003.
